It's been a week since we moved in, and I'm beginning to really love our new place.
Moving back to our hometown was never something that David and I anticipated doing. But, now that we're here, I honestly can't imagine being anywhere else.
In the rush to get a new place (so that we weren't shacking up at my grandmother's while we found somewhere to live) some friends of the family offered to let us rent out the apartment above their law office right in the middle of downtown. I had never seen it before, so, if you know me, you'll know how crazy it was for me to say "yes, thank you." Control freaks don't usually do things like that.
Last Saturday we got into our tiny new apartment and immediately filled it with our belongings. It filled up fast, as we're moving from a three-story (two bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a large studio) townhouse into a one-bedroom apartment. Suffice it to say, we're purging some more. And I like it.
I am heavily leaning on not finding anything else for a while. I like the idea of living more simply, getting rid of some clutter (something I always felt we were pretty good at handling, but apparently not), and making a point to live out of our house more than in it. I like that we're in the middle of downtown, with everything we need within walking distance. And I love that friends and family are within miles of us.
Honestly, it's really good to be back.
