Last week I blogged about the web development project I recently completed with Braid Creative. Today, I want to talk about the awesome stuff they are doing.
Part of the project included entering and testing the content for their first ecourse, SHAPE UP YOUR CONTENT: Tame Your Ideas & Tell People How to Buy You. I got pulled in.
One of the things that the Braid ladies did for me when they helped me rebrand my business was to shape up my own content. Let me share how...
My old business was as a general web designer, a side business including get-online ecourses, and a blog that covered whatever I felt like chatting about. It was a bit all over the place, was under a name that I'd carried over from my jewelry-making days, and I was feeling jumbled and lost.
Sound familiar? This is a feeling more than a fair few of my own clients and creative entrepreneur friends are familiar with.
When Braid and I started working together I had spent months jotting in a notebook trying to reorganize my business. I wanted to make the ecourses and consulting a larger part of my business, but wanted to keep with taking on web design clients. I knew I wanted to narrow down my clientele to my "dream customer."
Braid showed me how to shape up my content. They helped me figure out how to take all I wanted to do, and turn it into a single website/business (but first, I had to shave off some of the nonsense, too). By shaping up my content, I was able to draw in my dream customer (which they helped me define, as well).
My blog has become the focus of my business, giving me a platform for doing what I always wanted my blog to do for me: help my clients get to know me as an individual and as a creative entrepreneur, and position myself as an expert.
My website's paired-down content is direct and easily instructs my dream customers on how they can hire me.
My content is so shaped up.
Having worked with so many creative entrepreneurs, and occasionally getting emails from friends asking my advice on wrangling their ideas, I honestly can't think of a better solution than send you over to the Braid Creative ECourses. This first ecourse is wonderful.
If you're ready to shape up your own content, head to Braid Creative and check out what they have going. This first ecourse starts next week, and the ladies are offering a $25 discount of this first course. Just use BRAIDFRIENDSEPT2012 at checkout.
