The Scent of Tokyo

I'm not usually one to do much product blogging, but I have been compelled.

In my little mountain town there was this store (and I say "was" because it recently closed, bah humbug) that was pretty fabulous. Actually, it was even called Everything I Love, and it had just about everything I love. They carried Frye boots and Butter fingernail polish, vintage-inspired jewelry and really fab scarves.

A few months ago I was visiting this little store when I saw they had a new line of scentables, and so I started sniffing. I immediately fell in love with La Vie La Mort by Tokyo Milk.

I didn't buy it, and I had some serious non-buyer's remorse. I went into Boone one day to another favorite shop and fate intervened by presenting me with another display of Tokyo Milk. This time I would not leave with the same self-induced remorse, but they didn't carry the "Femme Fatale" collection. So I purchased Gin and Rosewater instead. It smells heavenly.

And so, I walked around for weeks smelling like a matronly alcoholic, sniffing myself every chance I got. I have been a die-hard J'Adore by Dior girl for the past 10 years, and this was the first perfume I've loved since I first whiffed my signature scent.

But I was still feeling remorseful over not getting La Vie La Mort. Luckily, it was an easy fix, so I trotted down to Everything I Love a few weeks ago – before they closed, obviously – and got it.

Now I'm a girl of many scents. Do I choose gin, or life and death? Oh, decisions.

Dior will always be for special occasions. Loyalty, you know.
