This weekend I had some much-needed down time. Whoa.
My pal, La, and I met up in Charlotte for chatting, eating and shopping. And some napping. And some cocktails. Fantastic weekend.

We stayed right in the middle of downtown, the same hotel David, Lily and I stayed at last fall when we took Lily to see Toy Story 3 on Ice. We spent two days wandering around uptown and two days wandering around the city.
On Friday we spend the morning at the Mint Museum of Art in uptown Charlotte. It's a place I've always wanted to visit, but David couldn't care less, and Lily isn't quite of the age where staying quiet for more than 30 minutes is much of an option. So La and I visited and found that it was a perfect way to spend our first full day in Charlotte.

We loved wandering around uptown, mostly around Tryon, where we had some super-fantastic food. If you're ever in Charlotte, Dandelion Market (Sunday brunch), Mez (the basil martinis are to die for) and Amelie are some must-dos.
Friday evening we went to The Comedy Zone, which was a spur-of-the-moment decision that was the highlight of our weekend. We saw Tammy Pescatelli, and I laughed harder than I have in weeks.
Saturday was shopping day. Lots of shopping. Lots of walking. Lots and lots of shopping.
By the time Sunday had come around, we were wonderfully content with how our weekend had gone. No one got lost, or sick, or robbed. Just a long weekend filled with everything we wanted to do. We went for brunch, got an end-of-trip mani/pedi - which was much-needed after spending a weekend in 3-4 inch heels - and we headed home, already planning our next getaway.
